Freds Folks tune pages are sorted into collections of tunes based on style that run together nicely, to play through for a dance. Generally, twice through each tune on a page is going to give you enough for 8 times through a dance.

The tunes are sorted into the following categories :

Single and Double jigs
Jigs that play through at 48 bars for dances with longer figures
Sometimes called "Triple jigs" these are in 9/8 time
4/4 tunes, either Single (or March) style, or faster Double reels
4/4 tunes, similar to double reels, but each bar contains two beats making a single phrase
Pages that alternate jigs and reels to add excitement
Usually written 4/4 but played with an implied quaver swing, also known as Schottisches
3/4 time tunes, usually a slower speed
Individual tunes used by specific dances
Pages of tunes to play through for pleasure rather than for dancing to
Tunes specific to a Playford traditional dance. Genteel dances
Tunes for specific Morris Dances (mainly Cotswold traditions)
